BURNSVILLE, MINN. – The University of Sioux Falls Athletics Department is thrilled to announce its outstanding achievement of securing third place in the prestigious 2024-25 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) All-Sports Award competition, tying the program's highest-ever ranking. With a remarkable 134.5 points, the Cougars showcased their athletic prowess, dedication, and competitive spirit across 18 conference-sponsored sports, finishing behind only Minnesota State (203.0 points) and Augustana University (183.0 points).
This top-tier finish highlights USF's commitment to excellence, both on and off the field, as the Cougars delivered consistent performances throughout the 2024-25 academic year. USF's third-place overall ranking was bolstered by strong showings in both men's and women's competitions, earning 52.5 points (third place) in men's sports and an impressive 82.0 points (third place) in women's sports. These results reflect the depth and talent of USF's student-athletes, who competed with heart and determination against some of the region's fiercest competitors.
"This has been a successful and memorable year for USF Athletics," said Jon Hart, USF Director of Athletics. "The NSIC remains one of the most competitive and well-respected leagues in NCAA Division II, and finishing among the top three speaks volumes about our programs, student-athletes, and staff. This is a significant accomplishment for our department and university — one we aim to continue building on."
The NSIC All-Sports Award is calculated by awarding points based on a team's finish in each conference-sponsored championship, with the winner receiving points equal to the number of teams in that sport plus one, and subsequent places earning fewer points accordingly. USF's ability to amass 134.5 points across a diverse range of sports underscores the program's versatility and competitive edge. The Cougars' success spanned multiple seasons, with standout performances across the board.
As a member of the NSIC, a 15-team, 18-sport NCAA Division II conference, USF continues to embody the conference's mission of developing champions in the classroom, community, and competition. The Cougars' student-athletes exemplify this balance, achieving academic success while making a positive impact in Sioux Falls and beyond.
