How It Happened

Sioux Falls opened the match looking to establish an early offensive presence, with Elizabeth Schmidt recording the Cougars' first shot in the eighth minute. Lily Dahler followed with another attempt in the 15th minute before USF earned its first corner kick just seconds later.

UMary responded with offensive pressure midway through the opening half, but goalkeeper Delani Daubman was up to the challenge. Daubman recorded consecutive saves in the 22nd and 24th minutes to keep the Marauders off the scoreboard.

The Cougars continued battling for opportunities, earning another corner kick in the 29th minute. Defensively, Sioux Falls limited UMary to five first-half shots and just two attempts on goal, sending the match into halftime deadlocked at 0-0.

USF wasted little time breaking the stalemate after the break. Just 93 seconds into the second half, Krattley found the back of the net at the 46:33 mark to give the Cougars a 1-0 advantage. The unassisted goal marked her second of the season and provided Sioux Falls with an early boost.

The Cougars continued applying pressure following the goal, with Kate Murphy registering a shot in the 50th minute before USF earned back-to-back corner kicks. Addison Van Zee followed with a shot on goal in the 53rd minute, forcing a save from the UMary goalkeeper.

Abby Flanagan added another scoring opportunity in the 55th minute as Sioux Falls looked to extend its lead. The Cougars held the advantage for more than 23 minutes before UMary found the equalizer at the 70:00 mark, tying the contest at 1-1.

With the match level, Sioux Falls continued searching for a go-ahead goal. Olivia Opichka put a shot on frame in the 77th minute, forcing another save from the Marauders. Daubman added her third save of the match also in the 77th minute to keep the Cougars within striking distance.

UMary took its first lead of the afternoon at the 78:42 mark, converting a penalty kick to move ahead 2-1. Maren Hayward generated one final offensive opportunity in the 88th minute, but her attempt went wide as the Marauders held on for the narrow victory.
