In what was a battle for GPAC supremacy, the University of Sioux Falls women's soccer team (6-3, 4-0) earned a hard-fought 3-1 victory over Dana College (6-2-1, 3-1) Saturday afternoon in Sioux Falls, S.D.
With the victory, the Cougars hold down first place in the GPAC.
USF took the early lead on a Tasia Murray (Sioux Falls, S.D.) goal in the 13th minute, as she blew it past Vikings goalie Samantha Flowers, giving them a 1-0 advantage. In the 32nd minute, Dana tied the game on a Jamie Queen goal.
Late in the first half, the Cougars went ahead again, 2-1, as freshman Taylor Olson (Sioux Falls, S.D.) put it in with an assist from Malory Carda (Rapid City, S.D.); they would go to halftime with a 2-1 lead.
Murray would put the game away with a goal in the 76th minute, as she received a pass from Genevieve Gregory (Sioux Falls, S.D.).
Next up for the Cougars is a trip to Hastings, Neb., to face rival Hastings College. Kickoff will be next Saturday, October 3, beginning at 3:00 p.m.
