ORLANDO, FLA. – The University of Sioux Falls Tennis Team moved to 6-4 on the season with a 6-3 nonconference decision over Bloomsburg University (Pa.) on a windy, sun-drenched Tuesday afternoon.
The USF squad recorded a 4-2 advantage in singles with wins by
Tianna Duda,
Abby Seigenthaler,
Kelsie Sanders and
Cortney McCans at #2, #4, #5 and #6, respectively. USF also lost a close match at #3 singles when
Kara Bunkers dropped the third set, 10-7, after taking the opening set 7-5 before falling 6-3 in the second set. In addition, USF won 2-of-3 doubles matches, including an 8-1 decision by Bunkers/Seigenthaler at #2 doubles as they improved to 4-2 on the season. At #3 doubles,
Marie Schmitz and
Kelsie Sanders registered an 8-6 decision as they improved to 2-1 on the season. Overall, Sanders and Seigenthaler both were 2-0 today, recording a win in singles and doubles.
"In some very windy conditions, I felt like we had outstanding play across the board," said USF head coach
Kevin Grebin. "I was very pleased with the effort and ability to win big points throughout the day," he said.
Next up for USF will be a match on Wednesday against SUNY-Geneseo on Wednesday to conclude the spring break competition.
