The two teams fought to a 0-0 halftime tie before the Warriors scored twice between the 58th and 60th minute and then held off the Cougars. USF, which was outshot 9-to-5 in the opening half, had a 5-to-1 advantage in corner kicks but couldn't convert the opportunities into scores.

The Warriors took the lead in the 58th minute as WSU attacker Addie Royer scored the first goal for the Warriors from the top of the box. Abby Bohanski scored the second goal less than two minutes later after breaking away from the USF defense and placing the ball just outside of Paul's reach.

USF had one other scoring opportunity in the 65th minute when junior McKayla Philippi received a corner kick from sophomore Lindsey Power and headed the ball toward the goal but a WSU deflected the ball.  From there the two teams played solid defense with neither team mounting serious challenges over the final 20 minutes of play.
