ABERDEEN, S.D. – With a personal-best performance, University of Sioux Falls Track & Field freshman Emily Olson finished 16th at the NSIC Championship heptathlon. After three individual PRs on day one, Olson was ahead of her PR pace and she finished the two-day competition with 3,917 points, nearly 350 better than her previous best.

Already the No. 2 performer in USF Track & Field history, Olson bolstered her standing behind school record holder Katlyn Sawtelle, who earned All-American honors in 2015.

On top of her three PRs which helped her to 2,556 points on Sunday, Olson hit a personal-best mark in all three events Monday. The Champlin Park, Minn. native opened the day with a 4.84-meter (15 feet-10.50 inches) leap in the long jump to add 516 points to her score.

Olson continued with a PR in the javelin throw, hitting a best throw of 29.57 meters (97-00) worth 468 points. In the final event, Olson cut off a second from her previous time in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:58.79, adding 377 points to her score.
