BURNSVILLE, Minn. – For the second straight week,
Trevon Evans of the University of Sioux Falls Men's Basketball Team, who averaged 28 points, four rebounds and 3.5 assists as the Cougars swept road games at Minnesota State and Concordia St. Paul, has been named the Northern Sun Conference Men's South Division Player of the Week, according to an announcement by the league office.
Evans, who now has been honored as the NSIC POW for the fifth time in his career, converted on 18-of-47 field goals (39 percent) and
8-of-20 for (40 percent) from three-point distance plus 12-of-14 foul shots ( 85.7 percent). Evans has scored at least 27 points in four of the last five games.
On Jan. 11, Evans had 27 points, five rebounds and four assists as USF rolled past South Division leader Minnesota State, 75-46 at the Taylor Center at MSU.
Evans, who made 11-of-12 free throws, helped USF defeat MSU for the first time in seven games at the Taylor Center.
In 31 minutes of USF's dominating 95-64 win over Concordia-St. Paul, Evans had 29 points, three rebounds and three assists with two steals. He hit 11-of 24 shots with 6-of-12 from three-point range, which tied a season-high.
Evans, who has 16 straight double-digit scoring games and 20 dating to a year ago, has 11, 20-point games this season after his 27 points against MSU and 29 vs CSP. Evans, who ranks third in the NSIC in scoring at 23.4 ppg, scored 56 points in 66 minutes played this weekend while dishing seven assists with just one turnover. This season, he has scored at least 15 points in all 16 games.
A senior from Wichita, Kan., Evans has 42 double-digit scoring games and increased his career point total to 986 in 45 games played (21.9 ppg).
Evans and his USF teammates will host U-Mary and Minot State on Friday, Jan. 18 and Saturday, Jan. 19 at the Stewart Center.
