BURNSVILLE, Minn. – Senior
Steven Brown of the No. 20 University of Sioux Falls Men's Cross Country Team, who finished third at the highly competitive Lewis College Conference Crossover Invite in Romeoville, Ill. on Saturday (Oct. 12), has earned the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Men's Athlete of the Week honor for the second time this year, according to an announcement today by the league office.

Brown, an exercise science major from
Orangevale, Calif., earned his second
NSIC Men's Cross Country Weekly honor in three weeks. He covered the 8K course at Romeoville in 25:16.9 in a competition of 36 teams and 420 competitors at the Lewis College Conference Crossover. He led USF to a sixth-place team finish.
Earlier this fall at the Roy
Griak Invite, Brown clocked a 25:03.0 to become USF's third straight individual champion at the highly competitive meet at the Les
Bolstad Golf Course in St. Paul, Minn. He led three runners (
Mason Phillips, 7
th; Zach
Lundberg, 14) in the top-15 at the Cougars claimed third place in the team race with 96 points.
At the 2018
NSIC Championship, he became USF's third ever individual champion. He helped lead USF to the program's first-ever
NSIC team title and part of the team that finished a program-best fifth at the NCAA DII National Cross Country Championships.
He owns the school outdoor record in the 10,000 meters (finished
16th of 29:54.61 at Mount Sac Relays on April 21, 2018) and ranks second all-time at USF in outdoor 5,000 meters with a 14:36.96 clocking in winning the
NSIC title on May 11, 2018. He finished
11th (31.02.61) and earned second team All-American honors in the 10,000 meters at the 2018 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Charlotte, NC.
Brown and the USF Men's and Women's Cross Country Teams will not compete this weekend as they prepare for the NSIC Cross Country Championships on Saturday, Oct. 26 in Wayne, Neb.
