Minot State Beavers (1-9-0, 1-6-0 NSIC):
The Beavers are led by first-year head coach Chris Clements, who brought to Minot State a winning philosophy from his time at Hastings (Neb.). Unfortunately for the Beavers, that philosophy has not translated to wins yet, as the Beavers are 1-9-0, 1-6-0 in conference. After an 8-0 loss to North Dakota, the Beavers faced then-ranked No. 15 Ferris State, led by a familiar foe to Clements in Greg Henson, a former coach at Concordia (Neb.) in USF's former conference, the Great Plains Athletic Conference.
The sole win of the season for the Beavers was a 1-0 home victory over Northern State.
Senior Daniela Fonseca leads the Beavers in goals (2) and points (4). Redshirt senior Erin Raferty has spent the most amount of minutes in the net for the Beavers, allowing 18 goals and saved 55 shots in 720 minutes.
U-Mary Marauders (5-2-2, 3-2-2 NSIC):
U-Mary Hall of Famer and eighth-year head coach Sarah Cook has led the Marauders to a respectable 5-2-2, 3-2-2 record in 2019. The Marauders started the season with two non-conference matches in Montana.
In conference play, the Marauders started with a scoreless tie with MSU Moorhead after having their scheduled conference-opener postponed due to weather. U-Mary followed up with a narrow 1-0 loss to Augustana. After the loss to the Vikings, the Marauders heated up with wins against Wayne State, an upset of Minnesota State, and a scoreless tie with Concordia-St. Paul. The Beavers lost to Bemidji State 1-0 before rebounding with a 7-0 win over Minnesota Crookston that was rescheduled to this past Monday.
Before hosting the Cougars, Southwest Minnesota State will come to Bismarck, N.D., for a Friday night match.
Leading the Marauders offense is Junior Hannah Richter with four goals and an assist. Sophomore Madisyn Waltman has spent all 866 minutes in the net for the Marauders, recording 41 saves while only allowing three goals.
Sioux Falls Cougars (2-8-1, 2-5-1):
The Cougars have been a very defined team, despite their record and losing players to injuries. The Cougars have played very aggressively with Fort Hays State in the first game of the season.Â
On USF's home pitch, the Cougars were able to pick up a key scoreless tie with in-city rival Augustana. With a higher morale, the Cougars were able to get their first win of the season off a goal from freshman Alexis Naujokaitis over MSU Moorhead. The Cougars second win on the season came against former USF assistant coach Kyle Halfpop and the Minnesota Crookston Golden Eagles in a 4-1 win.
The Cougars are led offensively by freshman Grace Held who has scored two goals. Freshman Alexis Wemhoff has spent 675 minutes in the net, recording 51 saves.
