AUSTIN, TEXAS --
Nick Zimmerman of the University of Sioux Falls Football Team has been selected to the College Sports Information Director of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-America Team, according to an announcement today by CoSIDA.

Zimmerman, a graduate student in business and marketing, was earlier selected to the CoSIDA Academic All-District Team from Super Region 4. A senior offensive lineman from Rosendale, becomes USF's seventh NCAA DII CoSIDA Academic All-American. He joined Nicholas Stanke of Eau Claire, Wisc., and Austin Schaffer of Hilbert, Wisc., (both first team, 2017), Trevor Wescott (second team) of Blue Springs, Mo., 2016; Brady Rose (second team) of Cumberland, Wis.; John Tidwell (second team) of Denver, Colo., 2015; and Carrington Hanna (second team) of Streetsboro, Ohio, in 2012.
A three-time Academic All-NSIC selection, Zimmerman was named second team All-NSIC in 2019 and honorable mention All-NSIC a year ago (2018). Zimmerman has graded at 84 percent with 247 knockdowns in his career. This season, Zimmerman has served as a captain on a USF team that reached the NCAA DII playoffs with an 8-4 record. He has graded at 87 percent with 70 knockdowns for a team that ranked second in scoring (35.3 ppg) third in the NSIC in total offense (427.6 yards).
Zimmerman has been part of three playoff teams and a team that has a 36-12 record over the past four years. Twenty-eight times he has had a grade of 80 percent or better in his career, five times surpassing a 90 percent grade.
The Division II Academic All-America® program is financially supported by the NCAA Division II national governance structure to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2017-18 Division II Academic All-America® teams program. The 25 CoSIDA Academic All-America® Division II football first team members hold a composite 3.85 GPA. Eight first team honorees hold a 3.95 or better cumulative GPA. Eighteen Academic All-America® Division II football selections are repeat picks with seven of the veterans making the 2019 first team.
