BURNSVILLE, Minn. --
Trevon Evans, who averaged 33.5 points, 3.5 assists and 1.5 rebounds per game last weekend, has been named the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Men's South Division Player of the Week, according to an announcement today by the league office.
In a couple of close road losses, Evans, who earned his third NSIC South Division Player of the Week honor this year and sixth in his career, made 26-of-46 field goals for 56.5 percent and was 7-of-21 from three point range while making 8-of-9 for 88.9 percent at the foul line.
Evans, who ranks third in the NSIC in scoring at 23.3 ppg, has extended his career point total to 1,169 , which ranks him 23
rd all-time at USF. The senior from Wichita, Kan., has 28 straight double-digit scoring games and 50 double-digit career scoring games.
In a 90-84 setback at Northern State on Feb. 8, he had 28 points, five assists and two steals. In that game, he made 11-of-21 field goals for 52.4 percent and made 4-of-10 from three-point range. In 40 minutes at MSUM on Feb. 9, Evans had a season-best 39 points, three steals, and two assists. He knocked down 15-of-25 field goals with 3-of-11 from three-point range as he had the second best point total of his career (42, at Northern State, 1-26-2018).
After his play last weekend, Evans now has 15, 20-point games this season and 31 for his career. He also had this third 30 point game of the game and ninth of his career. With his seven three-pointers against NSU and MSUM, Evans tied Mack Johnson (2015-16) and Nathan Unruh (1995-96) for seventh on USF's all-time season list for made threes with 72.
Next for Evans and his USF teammates will be a pair of home matchups with Winona State on Friday, Feb. 15 and Upper Iowa on Saturday, Feb. 16, which will be Senior Night, at the Stewart Center.
