BURNSVILLE, MINN. – Sixty-eight student-athletes from the University of Sioux Falls have earned Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Winter All-Academic honors, as announced today (Friday, March 15) by the league office. Of that total, 40 USF student-athletes were named to the NSIC All-Academic Team of Excellence (3.6 GPA).
In total, 677 student-athletes from the NSIC earned NSIC All-Academic honors for the 2018-19 winter athletic season. To be eligible for this honor, student-athletes must be a member of the varsity traveling team and have a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 or higher. Furthermore, the athlete must have reached sophomore athletic and academic standing at her/his institution (true freshmen, red-shirt freshmen and ineligible athletic transfers are not eligible) and must have completed at least one full academic year at that institution. Of that total, 354 student-athletes were named to the NSIC All-Academic Team of Excellence while 313 earned NSIC All-Academic Team honors.
To be eligible for the NSIC All-Academic Team of Excellence, a student-athlete (marked below with an asterisk *) must have a 3.60 cumulative GPA or higher, while NSIC All-Academic Team members must have a 3.20 cumulative GPA or higher. Additionally, the student-athlete must be a member of the varsity traveling team, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standing at her/his institution (true freshmen, red-shirt freshmen and ineligible athletic transfers are not eligible) and must have completed at least one full academic year at that institution
During the six years in the NSIC, USF has had 345 Academic All-NSIC honorees from winter sports programs. Those totals include Women's Indoor Track and Field, 127; Men's Indoor Track and Field, 119; Women's Basketball, 46; Women's Swimming, 18; and Men's Basketball, 35. Overall, USF has had 965 student-athletes named Academic All-NSIC since joining the league in 2012. Along with 351 in the winter sports, 272 have been honored in the spring.
