Cougars Corner:
The Cougars are 1-7-1 on the season under the direction of seventh-year coach
Brittany Domino. Despite some close contests not going the Cougars way, they have battled injuries and played some competitive matches late into games. The Cougars most recently returned from a road trip picking up a point, tying UMD and then losing to SCSU this past Sunday. The Cougars began their season facing off against three MIAA conference opponents in Northwest Missouri State, Fort Hays State, and most recently against Rogers State (Okla.) in a match played in Omaha, Nebraska. They began conference play and have played deep into matches while finding their identity with the young roster they have at USF.
Aundria Vargas leads the teams with 10 shots, followed by
Grace Held (6) and
Hannah Welch (5). On the defensive end, the goalkeepers have 98 saves from
Alexis Wemhoff (59),
Caroline Titze (21) and
Holli Knudsen (18).
"We have a pretty young group and I have confidence we will bounce back this week and learn from the mistakes we made in last Sunday's loss," Head Coach
Brittany Domino said. The Cougars host cross-town rival Augustana tomorrow at 8 p.m. and wrap up the weekend of NSIC action at home vs Wayne State on Sunday at 1 p.m.
