TEMPE, ARIZ. – For the fifth time in six years, the University of Sioux Falls Women's Tennis Team has received the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) All-Academic Team honor, according to an announcement by the ITA this week. USF also had seven student-athletes recognized as ITA Scholar-Athletes.
Under the direction of head coach
Kevin Grebin, the USF Women's Tennis team collected their fourth straight (excluding 2020 CoVID-19 pandemic year) All-Academic Team honor from the Intercollegiate Tennis Association. In 2021, 711 Division II Women student-athletes were named an ITA Scholar-Athlete and USF was one of 104 women's tennis programs were awarded the All-Academic Team distinction. To be eligible for the team award, teams must maintain a cumulative combined grade point average above 3.20 and USF was one of 138 Division II men's and women's tennis teams to earn the honor.
In 2017, 2018, 2019, and 2021 USF had seven student-athletes honored with five recognized in 2016. The USF student-athletes honored in 2021 by the ITA included senior

Emily Applegate of Casper, Wyo.; senior
Lexi Miller of Mankato, Minn.; senior
Rachel Klatt of Columbus, Ohio; junior
Megan Quandt of Henderson, Nev.; senior
Joelle Thorfinnson of Glennwood, Minn.; and freshman
Danielle Thorfinnson of Glennwood, Minn. To earn individual honors as an ITA Scholar-Athlete, student-athletes were required to be a varsity letter winner, maintain a GPA of 3.50 or higher, and have completed at least two semesters at their current institution.
In 2021, the USF Tennis Team (7-6) advanced to the NSIC Tournament for the sixth time in seven years. The Cougars finished 7-4 in league play and earned the No. 6 seed in the league tourney.
