BROOKFIELD, ILL. – Thuro Reisdorfer, a junior running back for the University of Sioux Falls Football Team, has been named a Don Hansen Honorable Mention DII All-American.

The Don Hansen Football Committee released the 2021 All-American team on Monday.

The Don Hansen team carries out the legacy of long-time small college football advocate Don Hansen, who passed away at age 75 on Aug. 29, 2010. Hansen, from Brookfield, Ill., started and published Don Hansen's National Weekly Football Gazette for three decades, selecting NCAA Division II All-America teams for the first time in 1988.

 

Earlier this fall, Reisdorfer, who was a major contributor on a team that won the NSIC South Division title in 2021, was among 36 student-athletes in NCAA DII nominated for the 2021 Harlon Hill Trophy as the Division II College Football Player of the Year.

"Thuro is a complete player and positive team leader who gives his best effort every day to Sioux Falls Football," said USF Head Coach Jon Anderson, whose team finishd 8-3 with its 27th consecutive winning season, a mark that stands fourth-best across all levels of the NCAA.
 
 A 2019 second-team All-NSIC selection, earned his second All-NSIC honor and first time on the first team in 2021. Reisdorfer led the NSIC and ranked 15th in NCAA DII in rushing with 111.5 yards per game and was second in the league in rushing TDs with 10 (31st in DII), first in the NSIC in average per carry at 6.4 (15^th, DII), third in all-purpose yards with 1,220 or 122.0 per game.
 
Reisdorfer was a major factor as the Cougars led the NSIC and ranked 18^th in DII in rushing yards per game at 217.2. A native of Sioux Falls, S.D., Reisdorfer finished with 174 carries for 1,114 yards, which was second in the NSIC and 20th in DII, and now has 365 carries for 2,366 career yards for 10th all-time at USF. He is just the fifth back in school history to reach 1,000 yards rushing in back-to-back seasons - joining David Ruter, 1996-98, Mike Dvoracek, 2004-06; Nick Kortan, 2001-02; and Nephi Garcia, 2013-14.
 
During 2021, Reisdorfer totaled six 100-yard plus rushing games this season and now has 11 in his career which ranks tied with Gabe Watson (2017-18) for seventh all-time at USF. In those 100-yard games, he had a high of 160 yards and three TDs against Concordia St. Paul and had at least 145 yards or better in five of those six 100-yard games. He also had 10 runs of 20 yards or more including a best of 64 yards.
 
As a sophomore in 2019, Reisdorfer rushed for 1,150 yards. He has 29 career TDs with 23 by rushing.
