MARSHALL – The University of Sioux Falls women's basketball team fell to SMSU, 59-72, in their NSIC season opener tonight.
WHAT HAPPENED
· USF started slow with only five points in the first five minutes of the game ending the first quarter 13-23.???????
· Sioux Falls battled back the last three quarters of tonight's game, but opens their conference season 0-1 following tonight's loss at SMSU.
SIOUX FALLS LEADERS
· Olivia Gamoke and Brecli Honner each led the Cougars with 12 points on the night followed by Sidney Swanson with 11 of her own.
· Swanson set a career high tonight with nine rebounds and matched her career best in assists while leading USF with four on the night.
· Gamoke was USFs second leading rebounder on the night with eight.
TEAM STATISTICS
· USF shot 23-65 from the field, 3-12 from downtown and 10-11 from the line against SMSU while picking up 15 points off the bench.
· Sioux Falls forced 11 points on Mustang turnovers along with 32 in the paint.
UP NEXT
Sioux Falls (2-3) hits the road to compete in the Bahama House Shootout in Daytona Beach, Florida where they will take on Embry-Riddle University and Flagler College this Friday and Saturday.
