USF Women's Wrestling adds six to inaugural season roster

SIOUX FALLS – The University of Sioux Falls Women's Wrestling program, and head coach Toby Bryant, are excited to announce the addition of six more wrestlers to the inaugural team.

"The signing class of 2023 will be the foundation for the future growth and support of USF and NCAA Women's College wrestling," said head coach Toby Bryant. "We are beyond excited to welcome 11 individuals, across six different states, who have committed to our mission and vision as the first full NCAA Women's team in South Dakota. We are looking forward to the spring, following current collegiate and high school seasons, and to adding a few more key assets to our program."

The six new members of the 2023 class include: Zoe Adam, Mackenzie Armagost, Brinley Green, Paw Hobza, Rei Ogden and Teila Peters.

Zoe Adam, 170/191, Canton, SD / Canton High School

Zoe joins the Cougars Women's Wrestling team for their inaugural season from Canton, South Dakota. For the C-Hawks, Adam was a manager for the football team and also competed on the wrestling team. She was the 2022 South Dakota 190 Girls State Champion and she also wrestles for the Legends of Gold club wrestling team. Zoe is the daughter of Bree and Eric, and she plans to major in Biology on a Pre-Chiropractic track.

"Zoe's accomplishments speaks for itself. She is a past Canadian Team Member, South Dakota State Champion, USA Wrestling Fargo All-American, and 2022 Pre-Season National Champion. Zoe will bring leadership, expectations, and high level wrestling to our program. We are fortunate to have Zoe's explosive and calculated style wrestling as well as her big heart for serving people."

Mackenzie Armagost, 120, Grand Meadow, MN / Grand Meadow High School

Mackenzie joins the Cougars from Grand Meadow, Minnesota where she'll be a part of the women's wrestling inaugural season. While with the Superlarks of Grand Meadow High, Armagost was a part of the wrestling, softball and cheer teams. She was named to the All-Academic team while lettering in both cheer and softball. Armagost wrestles for the Minnesota Storm and the Geurilla Wrestling Club. Mackenzie is the daughter of Melissa and Daniel, and she plans to study pre-med while at USF.

"Mackenzie comes from a strong wrestling background in the Rochester, MN area. Even though wrestling is a new endeavor for Mackenzie, she's spent her last two years of high school and club wrestling preparing for NCAA Women's Freestyle wrestling. Mackenzie brings a leadership role, along with classroom experiences, that will play a major part in setting the culture for USF Women's Wrestling."

Brinley Green, 143, Rawlins, WY / Rawlins High School 

Brinley comes to USF from Rawlins, Wyoming where she will joing the Cougars for their inaugural season. A graduate of Rawlins High School, Green participated in wrestling, volleyball, and soccer for the Outlaws. She is a letter winner in soccer, two-time letter winner in volleyball, and a four-time letter winner in wrestling. Green competed for the RawTown Elite wrestling club team and is a member of the National Honor Society. Green is an All-American for Team Wyoming and holds a record of 8-0. Brinley is the daughter of Abby and Josh, and she plans to major in Secondary Education with a focus on English.

"Brinley will establish a stronghold in the middle weights with her work ethic and determination to get better every day. Brinley has national exposure with the Wyoming USA Team as well as All-American honors with the Wyoming National Dual Team."

Paw Hobaz, 109, Omaha, NE / Omaha Central High School

Paw comes to USF from Omaha, Nebraska where she will compete in the inaugural season of women's wrestling. She attended Omaha Central High School, and competed in soccer and wrestling for Eagles. Daughter of Savannah, Paw hopes to one day become a Paramedic.

"Paw brings tremendous athleticism to the mat and is truly enjoying the new platform of girls' wrestling in the Omaha area. Paw is already a fan favorite with her explosive style and ability to score points. Paw will continue to grow in the sport and transition into high scoring women's collegiate Freestyle wrestling."

Rei Ogden, 123, Bismarck, ND / Century High School 

Rei joins the first ever Cougars Women's Wrestling team from Bismark, North Dakota. A graduate of Century High School, Ogden competed in track, wrestling, soccer, and cross country for the Patriots. She has lettered in both soccer and cross country and boasts a wrestling record of 34-6 career. Ogden wrestles for Metpac wrestling club and is the daughter of Baron. Rei plans to major in Education while at USF.

"Rei brings toughness and personality day in and day out. She is powerful, explosive, and loves to compete with her teammates. Rei will bring that flare to the Freestyle scene and accomplish great things on and off the mat."

Teila Peters, 130, Buffalo, WY / Buffalo High School

Teila joins the Cougars for their inaugural season from Buffalo, Wyoming where she attended Buffalo High School. Peters competes in volleyball, wrestling, and track for the Bison and is the daughter of Nicole and John. Teila is undecided in her course of study.

"Teila brings a style and pace to the middle weights we were looking for. Her passion and background in wrestling with the Wyoming USA Team will make her an immediate role player on our team. We look forward to watching Teila grow and adapt to college style wrestling moving into the NCAA competitions."
