USF FB Head Coach Jon Anderson announces Brody Rohach as QB Coach & Jaren Nickleson, WR Coach

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – University of Sioux Falls Head Football Head Coach Jon Anderson has filled two key positions on his offensive staff with the hiring of Jaren Nickleson as Wide Receivers Coach and Brody Rohach as Quarterbacks Coach, according to an announcement today (Friday, Feb. 18).

Both Nickleson and Rohach come to USF with experience in NCAA DI or DII, both as coaches and student-athletes.

"We're excited to welcome both Coach Rohach and Coach Nickleson to our program. Both bring a passion for coaching and developing student-athletes at a high level, which was most important in these hires. Both coaches have had successful careers, and we look forward to having them join our staff and program," said Anderson, who directed USF to an 8-3 season and the program's second NSIC South Division crown in 2021.

Rohach joins USF from Waldorf College where he was Offensive Coordinator at Waldorf (Iowa College). Nickleson was an Assistant Coach at Midwestern State (Texas) this past year.

The two coaches join a USF offense that led the NSIC in rushing at 217.6 yards per game (419 carries for 2,394 yards) and 28 TDs and ranked seventh in the NSIC with 413.3 yards per game. It is an offense that has rushed for an average of 223.5 yards per game with NSIC rushing titles in 2018 and 2021. In total offense, USF has totaled 421.2 yards per game and 6.15 yards per play which has been in the top seven in the NSIC all four years with a top-five placement three times. In fact, twice USF has surpassed 5,000 total yards and at least 4,500 yards all four years.

Rohach, an Iowa City, Iowa native, joins the USF program with significant experience leading an offense, including at Waldorf College which finished 7-3 a year ago. He also served as Offensive Coordinator and Recruiting Coordinator at Coe College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa in 2018 and 2019 when the team finished 6-4 both years.  During his two seasons leading the Waldorf offense, his innovative approach led seven all-conference selections and an all-region player.

Rohach comes to USF with playing experience in the NSIC. A 2014 graduate (Bachelor's degree in Communications) of Wayne State, he played two years at the University of San Diego before playing for three years with the Wayne State Wildcats. Rohach, who earned a Master's degree in Sports Management at the University of Central Missouri in 2017, spent a year as Wide Receivers Coach and Recruiting Coordinator at Buena Vista in 2017. He also served as a graduate assistant coach for running backs at Central Missouri (2015-2016).

With experience coaching multiple positions (running backs and wide receivers), Nickleson brings a unique skill set to the Cougars program. He had served as a graduate assistant coach for running backs at Midwestern State, which finished 7-3 in 2021. Prior to that position, Nickleson mentored wide receivers at Harding (Ark.), a team that reach the NCAA DII playoffs both years he was there.
As a collegiate wide receiver at University of Texas (2012), Nickleson helped the Longhorns to wins in the Holiday Bowl in 201l and the Valero Alamo Bowl in 2012.

Nickleson enjoyed a stellar prep career at King High School in Corpus Christi, Texas. He also was an outstanding student, who received the Wendy's High School Heisman. Nickleson was recognized among the nation's top student-athletes in relation to excellence in academics, athletics and leadership. A first-team all-district selection at King High, he had 500 receiving yards and six TDs as a standout on the field. Nickelson was also a National Achievement Scholar and Flint Hill Scholar, who lettered in baseball and track.

USF has nine straight winning seasons in football since joining the NSIC in 2012. In addition, the program's .777 winning percentage in NSIC games is the best across the conference. USF, which has had four NCAA DII playoff appearances and five postseason berths in its DII era (since 2012), has registered seven or more wins in seven consecutive seasons and eight of nine seasons at NCAA DII. In the past four years, USF has made two playoff appearances, won the NSIC South Division title and compiled a 32-12 record in NSIC play.  Fifty-one players have been named All-NSIC since 2017 and 123 overall since 2012. Also, USF has performed in the classroom with 93 Academic All-NSIC honorees since 2017 and 213 overall.
