SIOUX FALLS – The Cougars hosted their annual media day on Monday, August 15th at Bob Young Field. Head Coach Jon Anderson and student-athletes Thuro Reisdorfer, Cody Jantzen, Cam Alfaro, and Adam Mullen got the chance to speak with local media on the upcoming season.

"We're going to continue to build off our standards and expectations that we've set this season," said head coach Jon Anderson. "We've got a lot of competition within the team as well as some key players that are returning this season. Overall, I'm very pleased with the way this team has worked for the first week."

A constant topic during media day was the stout defense of The Coo which has been a "strong tradition" for USF under Coach Anderson. With a substantial amount of returners on the defensive side of the ball, the Cougars look to use their veterans to their advantage this season.

"Bringing back the returners we have is going to bring a lot of experience to the defense," said junior linebacker Cody Jantzen. "There's a lot of guys on our team that have played a lot of live game snaps for us and that's just one of many things that will help give us an edge."

After speaking with senior defensive back Cam Alfaro we heard a lot about what fans should expect to see as they make their way out to Bob Young Field this season.

"Our grit to play and get the job done is what's going to help us be successful this season," said Cam. "We have a lot of playmakers on both sides of the ball so the sky's the limit when it comes to executing plays."

After falling short of the playoffs last season, sophomore quarterback Adam Mullen is ready to get back to work and help lead his team to a championship season.

"We strive for a championship every season and last season we fell short," said Mullen. "We carried that disappointment into the offseason and allowed that to fuel what we take into this season. We have a stacked defensive and our running backs and wide receivers are capable of making a lot of really good plays this season."

Thuro Reisdorfer returns to The Coo this season as a graduate student, the veteran running back is looking forward to leading his team to success. When asked what he can do to help his team this season he undoubtedly answered,

"I'm just going to run and run as fast and hard as I can. It's not just me has to be ready to go, my position runs deep and the guys behind me are ready," Reisdorfer said humbly. "We've got to bring the energy and the power, I think that will help us succeed this season."

The Cougars open their season on the road as they take on Minnesota State Moorhead on September 1st at 6:00pm. USF will take on Minot State in their home opener on September 10th with a 1:00pm kickoff at Bob Young Field. Season and single game tickets are available now!
