NEW ORLEANS – The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced the Scholar Athletes of the Year as well as All-Academic Athletes for the 2022 NCAA Division II Cross Country Season on Thursday.
The University of Sioux Falls had six student-athletes earn all-academic awards while both teams were named USTFCCCA All-Academic Teams. In order to qualify for All-Academic awards, teams must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale while also compiling a team score at their respective regional championship meet. In order to qualify as an individual student-athlete, one must hold at least a 3.25 GPA on a 4.0 scale while finishing in the top-30 percent of their respective regional championship.
The men's team was one of 122 programs across the country to make the list with a cumulative GPA of 3.457. Out of 328 total student-athletes, USF had four student-athletes represented on this year's list: David Ecker, Jakob Hanna, Ben Morrison and Micade Shumway.
The women's team was one of 146 programs to make this year's list with an overall team cumulative GPA of 3.712. Khot Juac and Jessica Lutmer represented the Cougars while being two of 417 student-athletes across Division II.
