WAYNE, Neb. – The University of Sioux Falls Cross Country teams wrapped up the NSIC Championships on Friday at the Wayne Country Club. Against a deep conference field, the Cougar men placed seventh overall, while the women finished eighth. Freshman Owen Janiszeski earned All-NSIC Second Team honors, leading USF with a 14th-place finish in the men's 8K.
Women's Recap
The Cougar women tallied 256 points, finishing eighth overall in a strong NSIC field led by Winona State and Minnesota State. Senior Mallory Salazar paced the Cougars for the final time in her standout career, crossing the line in 23:34.40 for 33rd place.
Freshman Anjalie Aho continued her strong debut season with a 45th-place finish at 23:56.70, followed by senior Emma Thomas at 56th (24:22.00) and sophomore Chloe Aanenson at 58th (24:24.50). Senior Faith Rustad rounded out the scoring lineup in 64th (24:41.30) as the Cougars showcased balanced depth with five finishers inside the top 65.
Men's Recap
USF's men placed seventh as a team with 227 points, closing the fall with another solid team showing. Freshman Owen Janiszeski earned Second Team All-NSIC honors after leading the Cougars in 14th place (26:03.07)—his first top-15 conference finish.
Sophomore Camden Janiszeski joined him in the top 35, placing 33rd in 26:34.12, while sophomore Gage Grohs continued his breakout season with a 55th-place time of 27:33.28. Senior Bryson Canton (75th, 27:46.03) and junior Josiah Schroeder (79th, 27:50.10) closed out the team's scoring.
