JOPLIN, Mo. – The University of Sioux Falls Cross Country teams capped their 2025 campaigns at the NCAA Division II Central Region Championships on Saturday at the Tom Rutledge Cross Country Course. In one of the nation's deepest regions, USF fielded seven women in the 6K and seven men in the 10K, gaining valuable postseason experience to springboard into the track season.

USF's women placed 19th as a team, led by senior Mallory Salazar's top-75 finish. The Cougar men finished 20th overall with a strong one-two from the Janiszeski brothers.

Women's Recap

USF's women earned 19th in the 35-team field. Senior Mallory Salazar set the tone, crossing in 22:40.89 for 74th. Freshmen Anjalie Aho (136th, 23:45.94) and Brooklyn Koll (140th, 23:54.40) packed well in their regional debuts, while seniors Emma Thomas (148th, 24:06.85) and Faith Rustad (155th, 24:12.39) completed the scoring five.

Sophomore Chloe Aanenson (161st, 24:26.68) and senior Eva Studt (162nd, 24:29.58) rounded out the lineup just outside the top-160, giving USF all seven finishers inside the top-165 of a nearly 250-runner race.

Men's Recap

USF's men were 20th overall behind a marquee front duo. Freshman Owen Janiszeski surged to 62nd in 32:31.61 with junior Camden Janiszeski close behind at 69th in 32:40.30, establishing early scoring position in a race that saw a rapid front pack. Senior Bryson Canton (110th, 33:35.87) provided mid-race stability, while freshman Hunter Hart (144th, 34:33.32) and juniors Josiah Schroeder (159th, 34:47.20) and Gage Grohs (162nd, 34:50.28) stacked tightly before junior Jace Cofer (174th, 35:37.57) closed the seven. With five returners in that group, Saturday's 10K reps are meaningful runway for 2026.
