Moro and Dean Named USF Athletes of the Week

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Following this past weekend's performances, USF Athletics is pleased to announce Alessia Moro as Female Athlete of the Week and Camden Dean as Male Athlete of the Week.

Moro helped lead USF Swimming to a 4-2 overall record this past weekend when they hosted their only swim meet of the year. Alessia took 1st in two events and swam a personal best 5:08.55 in the 500 yard Freestyle. She also set a USF school record and secured a B cut in the 1000 yard Freestyle with a time of 10:20.25. Alessia was also named NSIC Swimmer of the Week. The Cougars have now had two Swimmers get this award after Valerie Childs won Swimmer of the Week earlier this month. Moro is also the first USF Swimmer to win this award as a Freshman since Allison Eppinga in 2016. USF Swimming does not have a meet this week, but are back in action Nov. 3-4 in Sioux Falls as a part of the Coyote Extravaganza taking place at the Midco Aquatic Center.

Dean was able to help carry the offensive load for USF in their game vs. Winona State this past weekend. The Coo scored 35 points in the loss and are scoring 30.25 points per contest. Camden went 21/36 for 280 yards and 5 touchdowns. He also rushed 21 times for a total of 111 yards to push him over 500 yards for the season. Camden's 5 touchdowns on the day bumps his total for the year up to 17. Dean will lead the high powered Cougar offense on the road to Pittsburg, KS. this week as they take on #2 Pittsburg State.

MEMORABLE MOMENTS

·         Khot Juac took 3rd overall at the NSIC Cross Country Championships over the weekend. She ran a time of 20:37.80 to be named NSIC All-Conference 1st Team.

·         Madeline Swanson was named to the NSIC Cross Country All-Conference 2nd Team with a time of 21:45.00.

·         Caleb Rivera and Ben Morrison were both named to the NSIC Cross Country All-Conference 2nd team on the men's side as well. Both Cross Country teams will be competing at Regionals on Nov. 4 in Joplin, MO.

·         Carter Slykhuis had another standout game for Coo Football on Saturday before leaving with an injury. Carter had 4 catches for 56 yards and 2 touchdowns in just over a quarter of action.

·         Freshman wide receiver Adonis Hutchinson also had a solid game for the USF offense on Saturday. Adonis had 2 catches for 71 yards, a career high, and scored his first touchdown of his collegiate career.

·         Jordan Kuper had another outstanding weekend in the middle for USF Volleyball. She tallied 16 kills against MSU Moorhead and 12 vs. Northern State. Kuper hit .583 against the Dragons of Moorhead and accounted for 20 points which her second most points total this season.
