Sioux Falls, S.D. – The University of Sioux Falls Women's Basketball team lost to cross town rival 73-56 tonight in the Elmen Center. 

USF and Augie were close throughout the first half. The Vikings took the first quarter 14-11 but USF would come back to win the 2nd quarter 17-13. The Cougars shot 30% from the field and didn't make a 3 in the first quarter but in the 2nd USF shot 42% from the field and 50% from 3. The Vikings didn't make a 3 for the entire first half and didn't shoot well from the field, going 38% in the first quarter and 18% in the 2nd quarter.

The Vikings were able to catch fire in the 2nd half to put the Cougars away. Augustana won both quarters in the 2nd half 23-14. Augie shot over 52% from the field and 50% from 3, but they got even hotter in the 4th quarter shooting 57% from the field and 75% from behind the arc. USF got their offense going more in the 2nd half as well, shooting 42% from the field in the 3rd and 35% in the 4th, while making 33% from 3 in both quarters. Augustana outrebounded the Cougars for the game 41-28, but USF won points in the paint 28-26. 

LEADERS

Ayla Brown led the Cougars in scoring with a career high 14 points. Brecli Honner added 11 points and Kami Wadsworth chipped in 10.

Kylie Wroblewski and Honner tied for the team lead in rebounds with 5 boards each. Riley Moreland added 4 rebounds as well. 

Ayla Brown and Danielle Minsaas each had 2 assists to pace the Cougars. Brown played a game high 37 minutes with teammate Kami Wadsworth following close behind with 35 minutes played. 

UP NEXT

The Cougars will hit the road for their next game. They will take on Northern State in a non-NSIC matchup. The Coo and Northern will start at 3:00PM in Wachs Arena on the campus of Northern State.
