BURNSVILLE, MINN. - The NSIC released their 2024-25 Wrestling Preseason Coaches' Poll today highlighting Beau Klingensmith as the USF Wrestler to Watch. 

The Cougars enter their second season at the NCAA Division II level under the leadership of head coach Matt Meuleners and look to climb the NSIC standings. 

"We are excited about seeing how much growth our team has as we enter our second season," stated Meuleners. "Last year we were a very young team, but we gained valuable experience throughout the season." 

USF returns 17 from last season's roster while adding 15 freshmen and 3 transfers. The Cougars added their names to the record book with four wrestlers currently sitting within the top-25 in career program wins led by Klingensmith in 15th with 18 career wins. 

"Beau is a returning National Qualifier, and he is looking to end the year on the podium at Nationals," stated Meuleners. "He has been a good leader for our guys and is someone the team looks up to." 

Klingensmith closed his first season with The Coo as the first USF wrestler to make the NCAA tournament while also placing 2nd at the NCAA DII Super Regional V tournament. The Moville, Iowa native recorded 184 match points last season along with nine pins, four decisions, two tech falls and two major decisions. Klingensmith claimed two 1st place finishes and another 2nd place finish last year and was named an NSIC Wrestler of the Week as well as the USF Athlete of the Week. Klingensmith ranked among the top-15 in The Open Mat rankings before breaking into the top-10 of the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) rankings while finishing the season 18-8.
