USF Women's Basketball Falls at Duluth

Duluth, Minn. - The University of Sioux Falls Women's Basketball team fell to Minnesota Duluth tonight 67-49.

The Cougars and Bulldogs played a tight first half with UMD taking a 29-26 into halftime. USF would come out and take the first quarter 13-12 while shooting 54% from the field and 33% from 3. UMD started nicely as well shooting 41% from the field and 40% from behind the arc. The 2nd quarter was also tight with the Bulldogs winning the period 17-13. USF cooled off offensively shooting just 30% from the field and did not make a 3 while UMD stayed consistent shooting 43% from the field and 40% from 3. 

Duluth started to take control in the 3rd quarter winning the period 19-13. The Cougars were hot from the field shooting 54% but did not make a 3 going 0-3 while Duluth continued to shoot well going 50% from the field and 33% from 3. The 4th quarter was more of the same as UMD shot 46% from the field and 25% from the 3 point line. USF shot 36% from the field and did not make a 3 leading to Dultuh winning the final period 19-10. Both teams had 34 points in the paint and Duluth had 20 points off of Cougar turnovers. 

LEADERS

Kami Wadsworth led USF in scoring with a career high 27 points. Ayla Brown added 8 and Landree Wilson had 6 points. 

Wilson had a career high 6 rebounds to tie Brown's 6 for the team lead. Wadsworth added 5 boards of her own. 

Ayla Brown led USF in assists with 2. Brecli Honner played a team high 35 minutes while Brown, Wadsworth, and Wilson all played over 30 minutes as well. 

UP NEXT

The Cougars will be back in action Friday February 16. They will be in Bemidji, Minn. to take on Bemidji State starting at 5:30PM.
