USF Women's Basketball Picks Up Win Against Bemidji State

Bemidji, Minn. - The University of Sioux Falls Women's Basketball team picked up a win tonight. They defeated Bemidji State 77-72. 

The Cougars and Beavers played a tight game throughout. USF came out hot offensively winning the period 19-12. The Coo shot 37% from the field and 33% from behind the arc while holding BSU to 26% shooting from the field and 4-6 from 3. The 2nd period was more of the same with Bemidji winning the quarter 19-17. Bemidji shot 46% from the field and 33% from 3 while USF shot 43% from the field and 2-8 from the 3 point line. USF went into the locker room with a 36-31 lead. 

USF and BSU played another tight quarter in the 3rd. The Cougars won the quarter 23-19 while shooting 43% from the field and 42% from the 3 point line. Bemidji shot 52% from the field but only 1-7 from the 3 point line. BSU continued their hot shooting in the 4th quarter going 2-5 from the 3 point line and shot 42% from the field. The Cougars were cold on the offensive end but shot 12-14 from the free throw line to win the game. USF shot 23% from the field and did not make a 3 in the final period. USF's largest lead was 12 points and they had 17 points off of Beaver turnovers. 

LEADERS

The Cougars were led in scoring by Kami Wadsworth. She poured in a game high 26 points. Danielle Minsaas added a career high 22 points and Ayla Brown chipped in 10. 

Wadsworth posted her first double double of her career with 10 rebounds to go with her 26 points. Minsaas and Madison Wuebben each added 7 rebounds. Brown chipped in 6 boards as well. Minsaas and Sidney Swanson each had 3 steals.

Ayla Brown led USF in assists with 4. Minsaas added 2 assists as well. Brown played a game high 37 minutes.

The Cougars will be back in action tomorrow. They will be in St. Cloud to take on St. Cloud State starting at 3:30PM
