Burnsville, Minn. – The NSIC has announced the NSIC Men's Basketball awards for the 2023-24 season. Jack Thompson of USF was named to the NSIC All-Conference 2nd team.
In Jack's career he has been named to the NSIC All-Conference team twice. Was the 2021 and 2023 preseason Player to Watch for USF. Named to the 2020-21 NSIC All-Academic Team of Excellence and was given the 2020-21 D2 ADA Academic Achievement Award. In 2023 he was named to the NSIC All-Academic team and the CSC Academic All-District Team. He is a 2-time USF Athlete of the Week. Jack has been a part of 2 NSIC South Division titles with the first coming in 2019-20 and the 2nd in 2022-23.
Thompson has started every game for USF Men's Basketball over the last two seasons. He has been the catalyst for the team this year as the point guard and leading scorer. He is averaging a team and career high 15.3 points per game and 4 assists per game which is tied for his career high. Jack is playing an average of 32.9 minutes per game which leads the team. He has scored 427 points so far this season while shooting 43% from the field, 38% from behind the 3 point line, and 81% from the free throw line.
USF Men's Basketball has had an up and down year with the highlight being when they defeated Minnesota Moorhead on January 13. The Dragons were ranked #1 in the nation at the time and Thompson led the way for a Coo victory. He recorded a season high 34 points, led the team in assists with 3, and played a game high 38 minutes. Two other games to highlight for Thompson were wins at home against Chadron State and Northern State. Against Chadron he had game and team highs with 25 points and a season high 8 assists in 36 minutes. Against Northern State he tallied 25 points, 6 assists, and 5 rebounds while playing a game and season high of 39 minutes.
