Two outstanding performances from Shawn Warrior and Noah Puetz powered the University of Sioux Falls Men's Basketball team to a monumental weekend, securing an 85-61 win over previously unbeaten No. 4 Minot State and an 81-76 victory over MSU-Moorhead. The duo's contributions earned them well-deserved spots on the NSIC Shining 5 team.
Warrior delivered dominant performances in both games, averaging 16.0 points, 8.5 rebounds, 3.0 assists, and 2.0 steals while shooting an efficient 57% (13-of-23) from the field.
In Friday's win against Minot State, Warrior posted a double-double with 19 points and 10 rebounds, anchoring the Cougars' effort on both ends of the court. He also added three steals, making his presence felt defensively as USF handed the Beavers their first loss of the season in emphatic fashion.
On Saturday, Warrior continued his strong play with 13 points, seven rebounds, and four assists in 39 minutes against MSU-Moorhead. His consistency and versatility provided the Cougars with a steady presence in crunch time.
Noah Puetz – Scoring Leader and Playmaker
Puetz showcased his scoring ability and court vision throughout the weekend, averaging 17.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 4.5 assists while shooting 45% from the field and 100% from the free-throw line.
Against Minot State, Puetz led all scorers with 24 points, connecting on three three-pointers and dishing out five assists. His offensive explosion helped USF dominate the Beavers in the second half, securing the upset victory.
In Saturday's contest against MSU-Moorhead, Puetz added 11 points, four rebounds, and four assists. Across both games, he maintained composure as a playmaker, finishing with nine assists and only one turnover, proving to be a reliable floor general for the Cougars.
