MANKATO, Minn. – The University of Sioux Falls Volleyball team showed grit and fight in a tough road matchup against (RV) Minnesota State, but ultimately fell in straight sets (17-25, 22-25, 17-25) this evening at the Taylor Center. With the loss, the Cougars move to 9-5 overall and 4-2 in the NSIC, while the Mavericks improve to 13-1 (5-1 NSIC).
Match Summary
The Cougars opened strong, going point-for-point with the Mavericks in the first set before MSU pulled away late with a pair of key blocks and service aces. In the second frame, USF made a big push behind kills from Sadie Voss and Aubrey Gates, pulling within two at 22-24 before Minnesota State secured the set. The Mavericks carried that momentum into the third to close out the match, highlighted by six service aces in the final set.
Cougar Leaders
As a team, USF tallied 26 kills and 45 digs but were challenged by Minnesota State's tough serving (11 aces) and blocking at the net (9 total).

The Cougars continue their NSIC road trip on Saturday, Oct. 4, visiting St. Cloud State. First serve is scheduled for 2 p.m.
