SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The University of Sioux Falls Men's Basketball team continues to shine both on and off the court, as Taylen Ashley and Kenji Scales have been named to the Academic All-District Team, as selected by College Sports Communicators (CSC). The prestigious recognition honors student-athletes for their combined excellence in athletics and academics.
Excellence in the Classroom and on the Court
To qualify for Academic All-District honors, student-athletes must maintain a minimum 3.50 cumulative grade point average while meeting strict participation criteria, including playing in at least 90% of the team's games or starting in at least 66% of them. Ashley and Scales not only met but exceeded these standards, demonstrating their commitment to both their studies and their performance on the court.
Taylen Ashley – Redshirt Freshman | Sioux Falls, S.D.
Ashley played and started in 29 games for the Cougars, averaging 13.0 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 3.0 assists per game. He shot 41.4% from the field and hit 57 three-pointers on the season. His best performance came against Concordia-St. Paul, where he scored a season-high 24 points. Taylen is majoring in Computer Science.
Kenji Scales – Junior | Richfield, Minn.
Scales appeared in 29 games, earning seven starts while averaging 6.5 points per game. He shot 44.2% from the field, 42.0% from three, and 88.2% from the free-throw line. He tallied a career-high 23 points against Minnesota-Duluth. Kenji is majoring in Graphic Design.
