USF Men Go Under Par, Place Fifth at The Jewel

LAKE CITY, Minn. – Fueled by a lineup of six freshmen, Sioux Falls men's golf delivered a top-five finish at The Jewel Invitational. The Cougars claimed fifth place in the 12-team field, carding a two-round total of 569 (-7) on the par-72, 7,012-yard layout at The Jewel Golf Club, a championship course known for its pristine bentgrass conditions and environmentally conscious design.

How It Happened

After opening with a 283 in round one, the Cougars hung up a team score of 286 in the final round to secure fifth place overall. The performance was highlighted by balanced contributions across the lineup, with three golfers finishing inside the top-25.

Freshman Jadan Ford led the way with a two-day total of 141 (-3), finishing in a tie for 12th. Ty Lenards and Charlie Hanson both added steady play, each securing a spot in the top-25.

Jadan Ford earned the team's top finish, carding rounds of 70 and 71 for a -3 total. His consistency helped keep the Cougars in the upper section of the leaderboard.

Coach's Corer

Head Coach Wade Merry praised the growth of his young squad:

"This is a really good golf team we have here. I am so proud of how we compete and never give up. We got solid play from all six. And, we are just scratching the surface of how good we are going to be."

Up Next

The Cougars will travel to Bismarck, N.D. for the Marauder Invitational at Hawktree Golf Course, set for September 29-30.
