The USF women's soccer team dropped a match to NSIC foe Upper Iowa on Sunday falling to the Peacocks by a score of 5-1.
Upper Iowa got on the board first as they scored off of a Kali Loescher corner kick. Loescher's kick went into the hands of USF goalkeeper Corrin Cook, but the officials ruled that Cook was inside the goal when she gained possession of the ball.
USF's defense kept Upper Iowa off the board the rest of the half and the Peacocks took a 1-0 lead into halftime.
Six minutes into the second period, USF's Melissa Daugherty made a pass over the defense to teammate Tia Ferrando. Ferrando then snuck the ball past UIU's Amanda Smith.
The Peacocks answered back quickly as they scored less than five minutes later when Aimee Wronski maneuvered her way around two sets of USF defenders and shot the ball in the upper right corner of the net from just inside the box. Corinne Wronski was credited with the assist.
Six minutes later Aimee Wronski and Corinne Wronski switched places as this time it was Aimee coming away with the goal off of a pass from Corinne.
The Peacocks went up 4-1 in the 72nd minute when Kali Loescher rebounded a Lauren Sharp pass and snuck it past Corrin Cook.
The final goal of the day for Upper Iowa came in the 84th minute when Madie Edwards won a 50-50 ball and put it in the right side of the net.
Upper Iowa outshot the Cougars 19-9 and also recorded 14 corner kicks to the Cougars 1.
USF will take the field next on October 19 when they travel to Aberdeen, S.D. to take on Northern State. The match is set to begin at 12 p.m.
