MANKATO, Minn. – Rounding in to postseason form, University of Sioux Falls Track & Field continued their assault on the record books on Saturday at the Ted Nelson Classic, breaking two records and setting 12 all-time top 10 marks in USF history.
Jada Carr and
Sarah Troescher tied to break Troescher's former women's 60-meter dash record and
Courtney Crandall hit the NCAA automatic qualifying standard with a record-breaking jump in the women's pole vault.
In her freshman season, Carr broke the women's 60-meter dash record set in 2000, but her mark was broken by the freshman Troescher earlier this season. However, both topped that mark on Saturday, clocking 7.84-second times. Carr broke the record in the prelims and Troescher equaled that time in the finals where she took fifth and Carr placed seventh.
Crandall was the early NCAA Division II leader after her mark in the season-opening meet, but she was overtaken two weeks ago and had come up just short of reaching the automatic qualifying standard in the following meets. On Saturday, Crandall broke through, winning her fifth meet of the season with a 4.16-meter (13 feet-7.75 inches) clearance, which ranks No. 2 nationally and is just the second automatic qualifying mark and sets a new USF record, topping Brigitte Gross's 13-7.25 mark set in 2011.
Josie Spitz also improved her season-best mark, clearing 3.71 meters (12-2.00) to take third at the meet and move into 12th nationally and No. 10 in the USF record books.
Hannah Linder placed fourth at the meet, clearing 3.41 meters (11-2.25), and
Sydney Siekman was seventh at 3.26 meters (10-8.25).
On top of tying the USF record in the 60-meter dash, Carr also hit a provisional qualifying mark in the women's long jump while closing the gap on the USF record. Carr won the competition with a 5.82-meter (19-1.25) leap, which improves her previous PR by four inches and ranks 12th nationally.
Mahli Strasser placed sixth the long jump at 5.25 meters (17-2.75).
Jessica Justin continued USF Women's Track & Field's banner day with a pair of USF all-time top-10 marks. She took fifth in the women's 200-meter dash with a PR of 25.91 seconds, moving her into a tie for second all-time in USF history. In the triple jump, Justin was one of three Cougars to place in the top eight, securing the fifth-longest mark of the day at 11.21 meters (36-9.50), which ranks 10th in USF history. Freshman
Clara Paul took fourth in the meet, edging Justin by three centimeters at 11.24 meters (36-10.50), which is eighth in USF's record books.
Kara Koth was seventh in the triple jump at 10.97 meters (36-9.50).
On the track,

Zach Lundberg added a top-10 time on Saturday, placing eighth in the 3,000-meter run in 8:48.79, which placed him ninth in USF history.
A week after shattering his own USF heptathlon record with a top-10 D2 mark,
Teddy Frid chipped away at the men's 60-meter hurdle record with a runner-up finish on Saturday. Frid clocked a provisionally qualifying 8.24-second run, a 0.03 improvement on his PR, which ranks second in USF history and 33rd nationally.
