MANKATO, Minn. – The University of Sioux Falls track & field teams turned in a productive showing at the Stomper Open on Wednesday, April 8, hosted by Minnesota State University, highlighted by event wins, personal bests, and a long list of nationally ranked performances across the track and field events.
The Cougars were led by victories from Tamia Horton, Brandon Stark, Owen Janiszeski, and Cameen McFarquhar. Horton swept the women's 100 meters after posting the top qualifying time in prelims at 11.54, a mark that ranked sixth in NCAA Division II at the time, before winning the final in 11.78. On the men's side, Jaylen Palmer and Chase Henderson both posted personal bests in the 800 meters, and Bryson Canton led a deep distance group with a runner-up finish in the 1500 meters.
The women's field events continued to produce some of the Cougars' best marks of the outdoor season. Delanie VanDriel and Tobi Peterson both hit nationally ranked marks in the discus, placing third and fifth, respectively, while Peterson also added a Division II top-85 personal best in the hammer throw. In the jumps, Kendra King led a loaded women's triple jump group with a fourth-place finish and a Division II top-40 mark, while Kendra Hall, Cadence Nuttbrock, and Lyndi Koosman also moved onto the national list. Hall, Nuttbrock, and Erika Imdieke added a 2-3-4 finish in the high jump, and Peyton Hanson posted another nationally ranked mark in the pole vault.
On the men's side, Stark's win in the 400 meters was backed by a third-place finish from Micah Holien and a fifth-place showing from Sabas DeHaan.
