KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The University of Sioux Falls Football Team (3-1, 3-1 NSIC), which defeated Augustana, 51-13 in the "Key to the City" game on Sept. 22, has returned to the D2Football.com national poll and is ranked No. 23 in the website's week 4 media poll.
Sioux Falls, which has won two straight games with a combined 1,076 total yards, is ranked for the 51
st time in D2Football.com's last 52 polls, dating to September 2014.
USF attained its highest ranking ever in the D2Football.com poll on Oct. 3, 2017, coming in at No. 4 after a 5-0 start.
Aside from D2Football.com's No. 23 billing, the Cougars also received votes in the AFCA Coaches poll on Monday. USF defeated Augustana for the sixth time in seven "Key to the City" matchups, including a third straight time. USF had 576 yards in total offense, including 332 on the ground. As a result, USF had the NSIC Offensive Player of the Week in
Gabriel Watson with 140 yards and four TDs. Also for USF, the NSIC's leading punter,
Thomas Chapin, who ranks 13
th in DII with 44.0 yards per kick, was named the NSIC Special Teams Player of the Week after averaging 54.0 per punt.
USF will host Minot State (1-3, 1-3 NSIC) on Saturday, Sept. 22 at 1 pm on Cougars Days at Bob Young Field.
