ROMEOVILLE, ILL. – Led by
Steven Brown's third place finish, the No. 20 University of Sioux Falls Men's Cross Country Team placed sixth overall in the highly competitive Lewis College Conference Crossover Meet on Saturday. In one of the nation's biggest DII races. The USF Women's Team was 28
th with 750 points in a competition of 36 teams and 368 competitors.
Men's Breakdown
Brown, a senior from Orangevale, Calif., who was the NSIC Athlete of the Week after winning the Roy Griak Invite on Sept. 28, continued his strong senior season by clocking a 25:16.9 across 8,000 meters in a field of 36 teams and 420 competitors. USF also had a top-10 performance from senior
Mason Phillips, who clocked a 25:34.6. Brown and Phillips were the top two finishers from the NSIC. Senior
Zach Lundberg finished 38
th in 26:13. Also for USF senior
Billy Beseman was 58
th in 26:26.3 while senior
Dan Armstrong was 73
rd in 26:40.7.
Also for USF in their top eight finishers, junior
Seth Overholt was 111
th in 27:03.3; while redshirt freshman
Wyatt Schlager finished 134
th, 27:17.3; and sophomore
David Ecker was 169
th in 27:23.6.
With four of the top 19 runners, Grand Valley State won the men's competition with 87 points.
Women's Breakdown
Led by senior
Montana Belford's 76
th place finish in 24:14.1 in 4,000 meters, the USF Women's Team finished 28th (750 points) at the Lewis College Conference Crossover. Grand Valley State won the meet with three of the top seven runners and 32 total points.
