SIOUX FALLS -- The University of Sioux Falls Swimming Team (8-1) is looking forward to another competitive weekend at the Midco Aquatic Center. The Cougars are competing in the Coyote Invite on Friday, Jan. 29 (6 p.m.) and Saturday Jan. 30 (10 a.m.) at the Midco Aquatic Center in Sioux Falls.
The Cougars are looking to bounce back from their first loss of the season last weekend against Nebraska-Omaha. Despite an 18-match winning streak, USF just missed the win against UNO, falling in a 150-144 decision last Saturday, Jan. 23.
At the Coyote Invite, hosted by the University of South Dakota, the competitions will be scored as dual meets. For live stats, go to this link. To see how the competition will stack up by event, click here for the heat sheets - day 1 & day 2.
Coach Hamstra proud of his team this season
Despite the loss at UNO and a season of uncertainity due to the CoVID-19 pandemic, the University of Sioux Falls Swimming Team Head Coach, Chris Hamstra, is proud of his team 8-1 dual mark and looking forward to this weekend's competition.
"We have had a number of solid performances and that will build momentum moving forward," said Hamstra. "I continue to be impressed by the senior leadership plus the resilience and focus across the roster."
One of those seniors, Jenna Krahn of Johnston, IA, is an All-American and two-time NSIC Swimmer of the Week. She is looking to lead the Cougars into another big weekend. Last weekend against UNO, Krahn won four titles, including three individual titles and a second place relay finish which enabled her to pick up the NSIC Swimmer of the Week honor. Along with All-Americans Chantal Kasch and Elizabeth Spaans, as well as the seniors and a talented underclass core, USF is poised for another solid weekend.
The Cougars have 20 swimmers on their squad who have placed in the top three in at least one event this season, including Krahn, who has 13 titles on the season so far.
