For the tenth straight year, USF Track & Field teams claim USFTCCCA Academic Awards along with five individuals honors

New Orleans – The U.S Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association announced the 2022 All-Academic Teams and Athletes in a recent release. The University of Sioux Falls Track and Field team garnered honors for both men's and women's teams as well as five student-athletes.
 
The Women's Track and Field team was also named an All-Academic team as they posted a 3.598 GPA and ranked in the top 25 out of over 100 women's teams. Four student-athletes on the women's team received the All-Academic Athlete award; Mackenzie Bengtson – Exercise Science, KaNya Henderson – Sociology, Kamry Lindsey – Sociology, and Emily Swanson – Exercise Science.
 
Led by All-Academic Athlete and Biology major David Ecker, the Men's Track and Field team earned the All-Academic team designation with a cumulative GPA of 3.273.
 
"It's awesome to see our student-athletes getting the job done in the classroom and in competition.", said Head Coach Doug Petersen, "Our Women's team tied the best GPA in USF Track and Field history, a mark they set last year, that speaks to the incredible dedication these ladies have to their studies. We couldn't be prouder of the phenomenal effort from our student-athletes this year."
 
NCAA Division II All-Academic Team Criteria: The cumulative GPA for all student-athletes on the institution's NCAA Squad List for Indoor and/or Outdoor Track and Field must be 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale, certifiable by the institution's registrar. Transfer students and/or graduate students are to include only grades earned at the current nominating institution.
 
NCAA Division II All-Academic Athlete Criteria: Minimum cumulative grade point average of a 3.25 on a 4.0 scale through the end of the semester of competition. Institutions utilizing a different GPA scale must convert the GPA to a 4.0 scale using the standard conversion method [GPA/Scale x 4.0]. Data must be certifiable by the institution's registrar. Must have completed at least 24 semester hours/36 quarter hours through the end of the semester of competition at the institution. Transfer students and/or graduate students are to include only grades earned at the current nominating institution. The student-athlete must have achieved an automatic or provisional qualifying mark (individual or relay event) for either the indoor season or outdoor season.
