EMPORIA, Kan. – The University of Sioux Falls track & field program closed out the 2026 outdoor season on the national stage as Peyton Hanson and Tamia Horton represented the Cougars at the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Emporia, Kansas.

Horton capped her standout senior campaign with All-America honors in the women's 100 meters, placing sixth in the national final with a time of 11.47. After qualifying for the championship race with the eighth-fastest time in prelims at 11.66, Horton delivered another strong performance against the nation's top sprinters to secure a podium finish and national recognition.

The Maplewood, Minnesota native adds the outdoor All-America honor to an already decorated season that included an NSIC title in the 100 meters, NSIC Outstanding Senior of the Year recognition, and a school-record performance of 11.32 that ranked among the top marks in NCAA Division II this season.

Hanson also competed on the national stage in the women's pole vault, finishing 17th overall after clearing 3.80 meters (12-5.50) against one of the deepest fields in Division II. The junior qualified for the national championships following a breakout outdoor campaign that included All-Conference honors at the NSIC Outdoor Championships and multiple nationally ranked clearances throughout the season.

The appearance marked another milestone for Hanson, who continued her emergence as one of the top vaulters in the region while gaining valuable championship experience on the national stage.

With the NCAA Championships complete, the Cougars close the 2026 outdoor season after another year of record-setting performances, conference honors, and national representation.
