Cougars Post Multiple Podium Finishes at NSIC Championships

DULUTH, Minn. – The University of Sioux Falls track & field teams wrapped up competition at the 2026 NSIC Outdoor Track & Field Championships with multiple podium finishes, nationally ranked performances and conference honors across both the men's and women's competitions. The Cougar women placed eighth in the team standings with 40 points, while the men tied for 10th with 17 points.

Tamia Horton headlined the weekend with a championship performance in the women's 100 meters, capturing the NSIC title in a school-record time of 11.32 while earning All-Conference honors and being named the NSIC Outstanding Senior of the Year. Horton's winning mark ranks No. 2 in NCAA Division II this season. USF also collected additional All-Conference honors from Brandon Stark in the men's 400 meters, Peyton Hanson in the women's pole vault, and Lyndi Koosman in the women's triple jump.

Jonny Cheney delivered one of the top all-around performances of the meet in the decathlon, finishing second overall with 6,640 points. The junior opened the competition with a personal-best 10.92 in the 100 meters and claimed event wins in the high jump (1.88m / 6-2), 400 meters (48.26), and 1,500 meters (4:43.60). He also added runner-up finishes in the long jump and 110-meter hurdles as part of his All-Conference showing.

Horton continued her dominant outdoor campaign beyond her individual title, helping the women's 4x100 relay team of Paige Haack, Tierney Faulk, Kendall Anderson and Horton to a seventh-place finish and additional team points.

In the field events, Delanie VanDriel delivered a pair of scoring performances, placing fourth in the shot put at 13.65m (44-9.50) and sixth in the discus at 42.06m (138-0). Tobi Peterson also scored in both throwing events, highlighted by a season-best 13.16m (43-2.25) in the shot put to finish seventh, a mark that moved her to No. 84 nationally.

USF found additional success in the jumps, with Peyton Hanson earning runner-up honors and All-Conference recognition in the pole vault after clearing 3.86m (12-8). Lyndi Koosman secured All-Conference honors with a third-place finish in the triple jump at 11.87m (38-11.50), a mark that ranks No. 49 nationally. Kendra King added a ninth-place finish in the event, while Cadence Nuttbrock contributed points with an eighth-place finish.

On the men's track side, Stark turned in a breakout weekend, earning All-Conference honors with a third-place finish in the 400 meters at 47.78 after posting a personal-best 47.41 in prelims that moved him to No. 68 nationally. Bryson Canton also added team points with a sixth-place finish in the men's 800 meters.
