WICHITA, KAN. - #10 Beau Klingensmith closed out the season for USF Men's Wrestling at the NCAA Division II Championships today.
Klingensmith opened the day with a 6-5, tie breaker win over Ryan Wehner of Lake Erie in the prelims. After advancing to the first round of the championships, Klingensmith fell to #8 Thierno Diallo of Frostburg State in a 15-10 decision before falling to James Anderson of Ouachita Baptist by a 3:40 pin to end his season. Klingensmith closes out the year 18-8 while becoming the first USF men's wrestler to advance to the national championships.
The Moville, Iowa native has recorded 184 match points on the season along with nine pins, four decisions, two tech falls and two major decisions. Klingensmith recorded a 2nd place finish at the NCAA DII Super Regional V tournament earlier this month and has claimed two 1st place finishes and another 2nd place finish on the year. Throughout the season Klingensmith has been ranked amongst the top-15 in The Open Mat rankings before breaking into the top-10 of the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) rankings recently released.
