MINOT, N.D. - USF Men's Wrestling competed in the 2024 NCAA DII Super Regional V today coming away with their first DII national qualifier in program history, Beau Klingensmith.
At 125-pounds, Pauly Garcia fell to Treyton Ackman of Upper Iowa in a 4-1 decision before closing out his season falling to Carlo Arreola of SMSU in a 5-3 decision. Garcia finished the year 13-9.
At 133-pounds, No. 14 Beau Klingensmith advances to the NCAA National Championships after going 2-1 on the day. Klingensmith defeated #10Â Jason Henschel of Northern State by a 10-7 decision in the quarterfinals before defeating Jack Huffman of Augustana in an 11-1 major decision. Beau secured a second place finish following a medical forfeit to #5Â Reece Barnhardt of Mary. Klingensmith is now 17-7 on the season.
Beau Beavers fell to #16 Trayton Anderson of Minnesota State in a 2:43 pin at 141-pounds before falling to #17 Braydon Mogle of Northern State in a 12-3 major decision. Beavers closed out the season 8-12 overall.
Cooper Sanders fell to #7 Cael Larson of Augustana at 149-pounds in a 5:16, 19-4 tech fall before ending his season with a loss to Luke Peterson of SMSU in a 2:52 pin. Sanders finishes 7-17 on the year.
At 157-pounds, Jagger Tyler fell to Caleb Meunier of Minnesota State in a 9-0 major decision followed by an 8-1 decision loss to Cody Wienen of Minnesota State Moorhead. Tyler closes out his season 14-13.
Lincoln Fink fell to #18 Chase Bloomquist of Northern State at 165-pounds in a 3:16, 15-0 tech fall before falling to #9Â Brendan Barnes of Minot State in a 4-0 decision to end his season. Fink finishes 9-16 on the year.
At 174-pounds, Ashtin Johnson fell to #2 Seth Brossard of Northern State in a 1:46 pin followed by a 5:00, 17-0 tech fall loss to Wayne Mellon of Minnesota State Moorhead. Johnson ends his season 8-16 overall.
Isaiah Laguna fell to Chase Stegall of Wisconsin-Parkside in a 5:00, 17-2 tech fall at 197-pounds before falling to #7Â Matt Kaylor of Mary in a 4:16, 15-0 tech fall. Laguna caps off his season 6-13.
