MUTIPLE LOCATIONS – The USF Track & Field team continued rewriting the history books with a split squad weekend.
The Cougars competed at multiple locations this past weekend including the Bryan Clay Invitational, Pacific Coast Invitational, Beach Invitational, and Minnesota State Open.
Emily Swanson kicked off the rewrite with a 14.12 second finish in the 100 hurdles at the Bryan Clay Invitational. The time beats her previous best & #2 at USF by .09 seconds and just beats the top spot by .02 seconds. Swanson then followed that up by claiming the Heptathlon record with 5216 points. The previous record of 5176 from Katlyn Sawtelle held for 9 years before this weekend and was the only time USF had eclipsed 5000 points until now.
Abbi Webb set her first USF record at the Minnesota State Open with her 1.72m (5' 7.75") High Jump. The previous record was held by
Emily Swanson with a 5' 6.25" jump two years ago.
The final record came from
Olivia Baumberger at the Bryan Clay Invitational in the Javelin. Her 48.44m (158' 11") throw ranks 2nd in DII and eclipsed her own school record of 158' 9" set last year. Baumberger is the only Cougar to pass 153' and only one of two to pass 150'.
The Cougars sent most of their team to the Minnesota State Open where their Women scored 160 points to place 2
nd and the Men scored 97 points to also place second.
