Both teams take 2nd place at the Maverick Open #1 with strong performances all around

MANKATO, MN – The USF Track & Field teams competed in Mankato today and left with 2 school records, 8 event wins, and quite a few scoring performances.
 
Both teams placed 2nd at the event and were only bested by host Minnesota State. The women scored 151 points while the men scored 111. The women held a 40 point lead on third place Augustana while the men had a 43 point lead on 3rd place South Dakota State.

New school records:
-Emily Swanson makes it even harder to best her 100m Hurdles record as she improves by .11 seconds. The new record stands at 14.01 seconds
-Tyler Hiatt breaks his own school record from two years ago in the Shot Put with an 18.06m launch
 
USF Event winners:
-Kami Wadsworth gets the win with a 37.91m throw in the Javelin
-Abbi Webb soars to 1.65m for a win in the High Jump
-Tamia Horton sets the facility and meet record in the 100m during the prelims at 11.83 before claiming the title in 11.91
-Emily Swanson speeds into 1st place in the 400m Hurdles with a time of 1:02.27
-Khot Juac nearly beats her school record in the 1500m but does get the win at 4:25.87
-Caleb Rivera breaks the facility and meet record in the 1500m with a time of 3:49.03 on the way to the win
-Tyler Hiatt claims the title, facility record, meet record, and school record in the Shot Put with his 18.06m throw
-Kade Bullion zips into first in the final stretch of the 5000m to claim the win in 15:18.59

Men-
-Denver Decker takes 2nd in the Javelin Throw at 52.06m as Marek Rex lands 5th at 42.06m
-Tyler Hiatt claims 5th on a 53.40m toss in the Hammer Throw
-In the Discus Throw, Tyler Hiatt and Chase Snyder get 4th and 6th with throws of 52.11m and 50.47m
-Jay Rhodes lands a Triple Jump of 12.99m to place 7th
-Jay Rhodes also takes 6th in the Long Jump at 6.60m
-Samuel Olson takes 7th in the Pole Vault at 3.97m
-Jonny Cheney places 8th in the High Jump at 1.85m
-Ben Mandel, Jonny Cheney, Collin Dingsor, and Denver Decker get 4th in the 4x100m Relay (43.47)
-The 300m Steeplechase sees Parker Hahn and Justin Steffensmeier go 2 & 3 on times of 10:11.59 and 10:52.15
-Ben Mandel finishes 5th in the 110m Hurdles(14.92)
-Benjamin Morrison takes 2nd in the 800m at 1:52.93 while Zach Matzner takes 8th in 1:56.59
-The Cougars place a trio in the top 8 of the 400m Hurdles with Denver Decker in 2nd (54.08), Jonny Cheney in 6th (55.87), and Collin Dingsor in 8th (56.34)
-Miles Olofson takes 4th at 3:59.17 in the 1500m
 
Women-
-Davis Guetterman takes 5th in the Javelin Throw on a 34.22m launch
-In the Hammer Throw, Kamry Lindsey and Olivia Baumberger go 2 & 3 (51.81m & 51.70m)
-Shelby Svien and Nicole Flynn take 7th and 8th in the Discus with throws of 42.05m and 41.37m
-Abbi Webb gets 6th in the Long Jump at 5.73m
-3th and 4th in the Pole Vault are claimed by McKenna Comstock and Peyton Hanson each with heights of 3.56m
-The Coo place two more in the High Jump as Emily Swanson goes for 1.65m and 3rd place while Dani Minsaas gets 4th at 1.60m
-Grace Gioffredi, Paige Haack, Kendall Anderson, and Tamia Horton take 2nd in the 4x100m Relay (48.06)
-Two Cougars place top 8 in the 800m with Annika Aho in 3rd (2:16.39) and Faith Rustad in 8th (2:22.58)
-Two more Cougars go top 8 in the 1500m as Morgan Gehl gets 2nd and Maddie Swanson takes 7th (4:38.47 and 4:43.41)
-Three Cougars go top 8 in the Shot Put: Kayla VanOsdel in 2nd (14.08m), Kami Wadsworth in 4th (13.73m), and Kamry Lindsey in 7th (12.37m)
-Ella Kolb takes 2nd in the 5000m run at 19:23.06
 
The Cougars will head back to Mankato this weekend for another single day competition on Saturday.
