5/14/2024 6:02:00 PM

INDIANAPOLIS, IN – The NCAA DII Men's & Women's Track & Field Committee announced today the participants for the 2024 NCAA DII Outdoor Track & Field Championships with six Cougars receiving a chance to make history.

After a season of shattered school records, sizable event wins, and unforgettable moments, six USF student-athletes will head to one final meet to cap off the year. Tyler Hiatt, Kamry Lindsey, Olivia Baumberger, Emily Swanson, Tamia Horton, and Khot Juac will all head to Emporia, Kansas for the NCAA DII Outdoor Track & Field Championships which begin on May 23rd.

THE CHAMPIONSHIP BOUND SQUAD-

-Tyler Hiatt-
Tyler Hiatt has dominated the NSIC in the Shot Put for most of his time at USF and that continued this season. After winning the Shot Put at the NSIC Championships in the Indoor season, Tyler refused to relinquish the title during the Outdoor Championships. His winning toss was the only mark over 17 meters at the conference championships. The junior was also named NSIC Field Athlete of the Week in early April after winning the USD Early bird meet with a 17.27m mark which stood as the 13th best in DII at the time. Hiatt owns both the Indoor and Outdoor Shot Put records at USF. Tyler represented the Cougars in the Shot Put during the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships this year and will now complete the set as a participant in the Outdoor Championships Shot Put event.

-Kamry Lindsey-
Lindsey made it three straight NSIC Field Athletes of the Week for the Coo back in late April. Her monster throw in the Discus at the Red Raider Open crushed all DII competition and landed as the 4th best in DII at the time. The 161' 5" mark shattered her previous best by a whole 10 feet and scored her the 2nd best mark in USF history. At the NSIC Championships she placed 4th in the Discus, now she'll have a chance at the NCAA Championships for another monster toss in her best event.

-Olivia Baumberger-
The NSIC's current Javelin Throw Champion surpassed 2nd place in the championships by 2 meters and that performance wasn't even her best of the year. Baumberger uncorked a beauty of a throw during the Bryan Clay Invitational to eclipse her own school record. The 158' 11" mark landed as the 2nd best in DII at the time and was only one of two marks in the USF top-10 to crack 150'. That performance gave the Cougars back-to-back NSIC Field Athletes of the Week in Mid-April. Olivia will now have a chance to make history in the Javelin Throw at the NCAA Championships.

-Emily Swanson-
One of USF Track & Fields best all-around athletes made a habit of breaking her own school records this year in multiple events. She holds the USF Outdoor records in the High Jump, Heptathlon, and 100m Hurdles while owning the #2 spot in the 400m Hurdles and Long Jump. She was also part of two school record relay teams this year in the 4x800m and Sprint Medley. At the NSIC Championships she reset the school record for the Heptathlon with 5,264 points as she claimed 2nd place and All-Conference honors. Her record breaking High Jump mark came just 10 days ago at the Maverick Open #2 when she landed a 5' 8" jump. Both the Heptathlon and High Jump record setting marks helped secure her a spot in each event at the NCAA Championships

-Tamia Horton-
Tamia started the 100m at the NSIC Championships with a bang. Her prelim time of 11.46 seconds set the school record before the finals even began. In the finals she took 3rd place and All-Conference honors. The sophomore also holds the 2nd best time in the 200m in USF history. She'll now have a chance at a national title in the 100m Dash.

-Khot Juac-
Another Cougar that's very familiar with the NCAA Championships, Khot has already participated in two NCAA Championships this year. During Cross Country season she secured USF's best ever finish at the NCAA Championships as she crossed in 5th place. She also put on an amazing performance during the Indoor Championships with a school record time of 4:48.63 in the Mile Run giving her 11th place. Khot now completes the trifecta of championship invites as she heads to Kansas to compete in the 1500m. The Junior took 2nd in the 1,500m and 5,000m at the NSIC Championships but was unable to beat her school record in the 1,500m she set just a couple weeks ago. At the Drake Relays Juac finished In 4:25.69, a time that undoubtedly helped secure her spot in the NCAA Championships.
