Hiatt, Comstock and Lindsey Highlight USF Track & Field at USD Alumni Meet

VERMILLION, S.D. - The USF track and field team put up an impressive performance at the USD Alumni Meet today. Competing against strong NCAA DI programs, the Cougars demonstrated their talent and grit across multiple events with two broken record performances and three national provisional marks. 

WOMEN'S HIGHLIGHTS

  • Emily Swanson placed third in the 60-meter hurdles final with a time of 8.84 seconds, closely followed by teammate Kendall Anderson in fourth place with 8.86 seconds. 

  • The 400-meter run saw a strong showing, with Mackenzie Everson finishing fourth at 1:01.97 and Paige Haack securing eighth place at 1:04.24. 

  • Maddie Swanson dominated the 3000-meter run, clinching first place with a stellar time of 10:22.40. Teammates Mallory Salazar and Eva Studt also delivered solid performances, finishing third and fifth, respectively. 

  • Kendra King had a standout day in the jumps, securing third in the triple jump (11.07m) and sixth in the long jump (5.16m). 

  • Emily Swanson continued her success finishing 2nd in the long jump at 17' 4.75" (5.30m) 

  • For the throwers, Kamry Lindsey finished 4th in the weight throw with a toss of 58' 10.25" (17.94m) for a national provisional mark. 

MEN'S HIGHLIGHTS 

  • In the 400-meter run, Denver Decker recorded a personal record crossing the line in 2nd place at 50.19 followed by teammate Brandon Stark at 51.06. 

  • In the field events, Tyler Hiatt was a standout performer, winning both the shot put at 60' 2.5" (18.35m) and weight throw at 62' 6" (19.05m). Hiatt set two school records while recording two national provisional marks while sitting  2nd in the country in the shot put and 10th in the weight throw. 

  • Paul Rhodes leaped to sixth place in the long jump at 21' 7.25" (6.58m), while Blake Aurich earned fifth in the triple jump at 38'6.25" (11.74m).

USF Track & Field will head to the Jim Emmerich Alumni Meet at SDSU next weekend in Brookings, South Dakota.
