Hiatt, Anderson and Horton Set Program Records While Cougars Close Out Valentine's Day Weekend

BROOKINGS, S.D./MANKATO, MINN. - The University of Sioux Falls Track & Field team split squads up between the SDSU Indoor Classic and the Maverick Premier this weekend with the Cougars recording seven national provisional marks and three school record performances. Both USF squads took second place at the Maverick Premier #1. Tyler Hiatt broke his fifth school record of the season in the weight throw while Kendall Anderson joined the record breaking with a new program record in the 60m hurdles. Tamia Horton tied her own school record in the 60m dash. 

Women's Highlights 

  • Tamia Horton – Horton claimed the crown in the 60m dash prelims with a meet record time of 7.53 while tying her own school record with a national provisional mark. Hoton now sits 25th in the country in the 60m dash. 

  • Kendall Anderson – Anderson finished seventh in the 60m hurdles with a record breaking time of 8.70 in the prelims while recording her first national provisional mark before picking up a seventh-place finish in the finals with a time of 8.80. Anderson now sits 28th in the country in the 60m hurdles. 

  • McKenna Comstock – Comstock added another national provisional mark with a second-place finish in the pole vault with a personal best leap of 3.82m (12-06.25) and sits 26th in NCAA DII. 

  • Ella Steussy – Steussy took the crown in the triple jump with a season best jump of 11.38m (37-04.00). 

  • Kayla Van Osdel – Van Osdel picked up a first place finish for The Coo with a national provisional mark in the shot put with a throw of 13.78m (45-02.50) and sits 24th in the country. 

  • Kamry Lindsey – Lindsey added the final national provisional mark for USF with a first place finish in the weight throw at 18.54m (60-10.00). 

Men's Highlights 

  • Tyler Hiatt – Hiatt continued his dominance with two first place finishes in the weight throw and shot put with both being a meet record and national provisional marks while his weight throw toss set another school record. In the shot put, Hiatt landed a throw of 17.80m (58-04.75) while sitting 6th in the nation in the weight throw with a toss of 20.13m (66-00.50).

USF Track & Field will head to the SDSU Last Chance Meet next weekend in Brookings before hitting the NSIC Indoor Championships February 28-March 1 in Mankato, Minnesota.
