SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – University of Sioux Falls Head Soccer Coach Joe Demay has announced the hiring of Hailee Fischer as the program's assistant coach.
"Hailee was someone I immediately thought of asking to join the staff when I was hired in January," said Demay. "She brings a wealth of experience as a player and is one of the brightest young coaches in the country. Hailee is a fantastic addition to the Coo Family."
A Hartford, S.D. native, Fischer has built an impressive coaching and playing resume. She recently served as the head coach of Harrisburg High School's girls' soccer program, leading the team to its third consecutive state championship in her first year. Prior to that, she was an assistant coach for Harrisburg and has been active in coaching for the Dakota Alliance Soccer Club, the Dakota Olympic Development Program, and multiple camps throughout South Dakota. She holds a USSF C license and is on the US Soccer pathway to become a Coach Educator to teach Grassroots and Goalkeeping Licensing courses.
As a player, Fischer was a standout at West Central High School, earning four SD HS Soccer All-State honors (First Team in 2015-17, Second Team in 2014) and being named SD HS Girl's Soccer Player of the Year in 2018. She played a key role in three state championships (2013, 2016, 2017) before continuing her career at South Dakota State University. While at SDSU (2018-2022), she helped the Jackrabbits win two Summit League Conference Championships and make NCAA tournament appearances in 2019 and 2021. She also played for Sioux Falls City Football Club (2022-2023), earning a spot on the WPSL Northern Conference Best IX in 2022.
Off the field, Fischer graduated from SDSU in 2023 with a degree in Elementary Education and previously worked as an ELA and math teacher in the Harrisburg School District. Her deep understanding of player development, leadership, and education will be a tremendous asset to the USF soccer program.
