FIRST HALF RECAP

After Augustana scored on its opening possession, Sioux Falls answered with an eight-play, 55-yard drive to even the game.

Brueck helped move the Cougars into Viking territory before USF faced fourth-and-two from the Augustana 18-yard line. JT Frieders converted the extra point to tie the game at 7-7 with 6:02 remaining in the first quarter.

Augustana moved back in front 10-7 before extending its advantage to 17-7 with 3:31 remaining in the second quarter.

The Cougar offense responded with one of its biggest plays of the afternoon. USF marched 79 yards in seven plays before Brueck connected with Hutchinson for a 46-yard touchdown, pulling the Cougars within 17-14 with 1:02 remaining before halftime.

USF's defense immediately created another scoring opportunity. Andy Henson forced a fumble on Augustana's first play of the ensuing possession, and Beau Giblin recovered the ball at the Viking 27.

The Cougars needed just two plays to capitalize. Brueck connected with Hutchinson for 14 yards before finding Brown Jr. for a 13-yard touchdown with 21 seconds remaining. The score capped a 13-point surge in the final 1:02 of the half and sent USF into the locker room with a 20-17 advantage.

SECOND HALF RECAP

Sioux Falls received the second-half kickoff looking to build on its three-point advantage. The Cougars moved the ball across midfield on their opening possession, with Brueck connecting with Hutchinson for a 13-yard gain on third-and-11 before Brown Jr. added another reception.

USF was ultimately unable to turn the possession into points, and the Cougars were held scoreless during the second half.

Augustana moved back in front with 5:14 remaining in the third quarter before adding another touchdown at the 2:59 mark to put USF behind 31-20 entering the fourth.
